Hi! My name is Tory. I’m a wife, boymom to two, and a homesteader with a dream!
I’ve been homesteading since 2019 when we moved out of an HOA neighborhood and back onto some land after years of wanting to do just that. Within just a month of moving onto a fixer upper property, where we were living part time in an RV while fixing the mobile home, we had a small flock of chickens and a couple of goats. In 2020 we learned how to process our own broiler chickens and added a few cows to the farm. We quickly did all the small farming things, had a lot of learning, and I loved it! Fast forward to today and we’ve got goats, a bunch of broiler chicks, my heart horse Moonshine, a donkey, and a couple of goofy dogs and cats.
I’ve got dreams of growing our homestead to supply more of the things we eat and shopping local for the things we can’t or won’t grow just yet. My boys are my awesome partners on the farm while my husband works off the farm. Hoping one day to bring him home to work on the farm with us. In the next couple of years we plan to add to the farm, expand the workshops we offer, and stretch ourselves as we grow and continue to learn how to be better stewards of what we are given.
I’ve wanted for a long time to sit down and share my experiences and hope that thru this blog you just might be inspired to get started no matter where you are, learn what to (or not to!) do, and know you aren’t alone on this crazy, awesome, homesteading journey! I hope you’ll come along on with me on this crazy ride and laugh (with me not at me ;P), learn, or cry with me. Hopefully more of the first two!
